Welcome to Social Studies 11 Explorations! Participating students will find that this is an amazing survey course allowing students to try out 3-4 subject areas, each from the array of grade 12 Socials offerings.
Students play a role in deciding which areas of study they will immerse themselves in during class: History, Political Studies, Geography, Philosophy, Law, Contemporary Indigenous Studies, Genocide, Psychology, or Social Justice. One unit will be completed for each chosen area. Explorations 11 will have a strong emphasis on inquiry-based learning and research, and a balance of individual, small and large group work and discussion, current events, and the use of technology for projects and reflection. This course is not a prerequisite for any of the grade 12 level courses. Clicking on the link below will download a pdf document of the potential curriculum for Social Studies 11 Explorations.
